Why Some People Smell So Bad?

Bad body odor can control your life, making you choose not to take part in activities you enjoy and even avoid going out in public. There are many reasons for body odor, and there are even more ways to reduce it. Body odor can become more of a problem when you have certain conditions including obesity and a propensity to perspire more than the average person. But there are ways to reduce your body odor almost to the point of elimination. If you follow the advice here, your body odor should soon be a thing of the past.

1. Be Sparing With Garlic and Spices

The scent of certain spices, notably cumin, along with garlic and onions, especially if eaten raw, can work their way out of your body through your skin when you sweat. Certain spices such as chili peppers also cause you to sweat, making it more likely that you will emit body odor.

2. Stay Very Clean

Shower at least once per day, and wash your entire body with soap or another cleansing agent. Better yet, scrub with a brush or cloth, to clean away any dead skin. This is especially important if you are overweight or obese, because any place on your body where skin touches skin, such as between rolls of fat and under your breasts, will sweat constantly throughout the day. The sweat itself does not smell (unless you've eaten foods that emanate from your sweat); rather, your sweat causes an overgrowth of bacteria and it's the bacteria that carries the odor.

3. Stay As Dry As Possible

Dry yourself off completely after your shower before dressing. Use cornstarch as a body powder to help absorb your sweat. If you have areas that sweat constantly, such as under your breasts, wipe with a clean, dry towel regularly throughout the day.

4. Wear Very Clean Clothes

Many people hang up their clothes after wearing them, preparing to wear them another day. If you have a problem with body odor, you should wash your clothes after each wearing. Your clothes may smell fine after their airing, but as soon as they envelop your warm body they will start smelling again, especially if you begin sweating. If you are sweating a lot throughout the day, change your clothes often. If you have foot odor, change your socks multiple times throughout the day. And don't go without socks if you are wearing shoes with a closed toe or heel.

5. Use a Strong Antiperspirant

The difference between a deodorant and an antiperspirant is that a deodorant simply masks the smell of body odor whereas an antiperspirant prevents the sweating that leads to the body odor. Stronger antiperspirants are available, and you don't have to stick to the underarm area. It's not a good idea to use an antiperspirant all over your body, but it's fine to use on certain problem areas - your feet, for example.
The keys to prevent excessive body odor is to prevent the conditions that cause it. Stay clean, stay dry, and use products that help prevent too much moisture - and thus bacterial growth - from developing.
